A little bit of Quilting

Yesterday was a beautiful day. It seems spring is finally coming!
We counted 27 quail in the backyard. Aren't they so cute and fat?

I finally got a little quilting done. (Hopefully binding will get made today.)

And some concrete mixed and poured for a new fire pit.

All and all a pretty good day.

TMI?

I few weeks ago I read Heather's and then Keri's blog posts on Keeping it Real. I thought learning more about them was fun, and thought I should do that too, but of course I moved on. Well the thought keeps coming back to me, so here it goes.

More than anyone ever needed to know about me--

I'm not always sure why I blog. I basically think of it as my creative journal. I'm made some really great "blog friends".

I come from a very large family.  I am the youngest of twelve children, all from the same two parents.

I have been married to Tony for fourteen years. I have two kids that are the best in the whole world. They just are. I feel privileged to be their Mom. That doesn't mean I think being the Mom is easy. No way, but I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I'm a muncher. I believe chips, Ranch dip and a Coke make a well balanced meal.

I've been told I have a very strong personality--a few too many times.

I love to create. That is one way I handle stress. I love to play with color. I love my longarm quilting machine.

I do a lot of charity work. I think service makes for a happy person.

I hate spiders. A lot. I really hate them. I have nightmares about them.

I have lived where I am now for about 6 1/2 years. I live in a basement apartment of my parents home.
My parents got old. I keep an eye on them and try to help them out.
My Mom is in the very early stages of Alzheimer's. The other day she came out of the bathroom and said "I was in the bathroom and the power went out, so I sat there for awhile, and I thought wow it is taking a long time for the power to come back on. Then I remember I had shut my eyes and forgot to open them."
I laughed and laughed--and then I cried. (Not in front of Mom of course.)  This is my reality.

I am a believer in Christ.

I love to laugh. I'm too emotional.

My family is the most important thing to me.

I love to camp. I love to sit in the sun. I love to read. I love a fire.

There it is. I little more about me. Now it's your turn.

String Block

I finished my pillow for the Pillow Talk Swap.
It is on it's way to it's new home.

"Bjorn" the fish is my favorite part.
It was fun to make. I sure hope my secret partner likes it!
Someday I hope I make a sting quilt with my mountain of scraps.
If you want to make one there are a lot of tutorials around, like here, here, and here.

Here is a peek at one of my projects in progress.

Gracie's bedroom Makeover

Gracie's bedroom makeover is finished!
It is so hard to take pictures in a bedroom, but here it is. I just wish I were a photographer!

This is the shelf above her window.

"Prince Charming"

Gracie loves animals. She has her pet deer and squirrel (that her Grandpa painted) right next to her bed.

The "piggy" bank next to the toy box.

Tea cups are above the toy box.

 Geraniums that I painted.

Gracie is very happy with her new room, and so am I!

Conversation Hearts

I work with the Young Women ages 16-18 at our church. Yesterday I gave a lesson on communication. This is what I used for a handout at the end. I thought it turned out fun, so I had to share.
