Remember this quilt? I told you the strips were the left-overs of another project--this would be that project.


This is a commissioned quilt that will be for my niece Valerie's birthday.
I love it! I really wish my pictures could do it justice.
It's an over sized twin that will fit her bed nicely. It has a pieced strip going across the back that I just love. I tested it out on Gracie's bed, and both sides look great. I love a quilt that is reversible.
It looks so fresh and fun. I love the colors and the combination of fabrics.
My favorite part of the quilting process, is picking what fabrics to put together.

In case you are wondering--it is really a mix of fabrics, but some of them are:
"Fresh-aire" by StudioE, "Nature-ology" by StudioE, "Twiggy" by Sanae for Moda, "Al Fresco" for Marcus Fabrics, "City Girl" for Benartex and who know what else!

I quilted it with white thread in an all-over loops pattern.


I hope Valerie loves it!

Today Tony and I have been married for 14 years! Look what just showed up at my door.Ahhh...I really like that guy.

I hate spiders.

I mean I really hate spiders. I despise them. I'm terrified of them. These are the things nightmares are made of. Can you imagine how happy I was so see this next to the gate I was about to go out?

Along with the regular day to day stuff this past week, I was fighting a pretty bad head cold, but my Mom and I did manage to get all of our pears bottled.
I did get my order of the Figgy Pudding fabric in the mail, so I'll be able to work on this fella soon.

Today I'm finally sewing. I'm working on quilt binding. I'll have more to show you soon!

Work in Progress

I have always loved stars. I have made quite a few star quilts, mostly patterns I've just made up, but I had never made this style of wonky star. They've been on my to do list for quite a while.
I have been seeing them on Flickr a lot lately because of the Bushfire Quilt Project. I decided it was time to try them. They are so fun and addicting! After making a couple I thought I should look for a tutorial to see if there was a better way to do them.

This is how far I got before I ran out of the white snowflake fabric I'm using as the background. (It is from the Figgy Pudding line.) Ugg. I've checked every fabric store around here and no one has any left. I ordered some online, so now I'm just waiting for it to arrive so I can finish. I'm no good at waiting, procrastinating-yeah, waiting-no.

One of My Very Favorite People

I just love this kid.

Kyle had a birthday yesterday. He's 12!
My little boy isn't so little anymore.
We took Kyle to "nickel-cade" to celebrate. We all had a great time.
Kyle requested peanut butter bars instead of cake. Can you tell who made them? Don't worry, I covered that with chocolate frosting.

I really feel so lucky to get to be this boys Mom.
Kyle has always been my buddy. He has a very kind heart, he's so much fun, and such a great kid. I can't believe how much he is growing up. I am very proud of the person he is.
I still like to think of him like this--
Love ya kid.

dqs7 ready to go

I did it--I have my swap all ready to go in tomorrows mail! That means I even grew up a little and figured out how to make a label for the back of the quilt! It might not be the most beautiful label ever, but it was a big step for me! I can't tell you how bad I wish I had labels on all the quilts I have made for family. I'm going to do a better job from now on.
Here are the other goodies I'm going to send along with the doll quilt. The eyes on that one fabric glow in the dark! How cool is that?
I sure hope my swap partner likes it!

Seeing Red....

...I now have a red bathroom!

It seems like every time we do a project, about 1/2 to 3/4 way through, Tony or I say "Why didn't we do before and after photo's?"
So this is what our bathroom kinda looked like before....
...and after!

I love the red.
We only have one bathroom in our house, and no medicine cabinet or linen closet, so that little white cabinet is a life saver.
There is no art on the walls yet. I'm not sure what I want. We used to have some fly fishing pictures I painted about nine years ago. I'm tired of them. I really wish I would finish this picture. It might be really cool in there.

I received a package in the mail today....it was my quilt from my dqs7 partner, Gale!

Aren't these fabrics beautiful? And look at all that quilting.

I had to include a photo of this great pieced binding. I think it may be my favorite part!

I must admit I wasn't sure what this cutie was for a minute---duh---it's a measuring tape! How clever.

This has been so fun to participate in. Thanks so much Gale for the doll quilt and all the extra goodies. I really appreciate the beautiful work you did for me!

And maybe you are wondering about the quilt I made for the swap?
I haven't mailed mine yet. I finished it the end of July or the first of August. So why haven't I sent mine? Well I'll tell you. I found out I was supposed to put a label on the back. I've never labeled one of my quilts before. Uh-oh. I'm making myself sit down and figure that out TODAY! I'll let you know how it goes. Ugg.
